Carey focuses on intellectual property, business, finance and real estate law. She helps clients form business entities, raise capital in equity offerings, negotiate contracts and identify intellectual property rights.
Carey works with large, small, and family business corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships. Her clients include hospitality and restaurant ventures, biotechnology companies, banks and individual business owners.
Carey’s skills include copyright registration and drafting license agreements. She has worked with individual artists, authors, musicians and software developers to protect their original works. She advises universities, government agencies and businesses on copyright, privacy and publicity rights issues.
Carey has assisted clients with numerous commercial real estate transactions including acquisitions, sales, 1031 exchanges, leases, development, construction, condominiums and planned developments. Her commercial law experience includes real-estate secured lending, Article 9 secured transactions and opinions for financing transactions.
Carey is on the Board of Trustees of Dakota Wesleyan University and a 2015 member of Eide Bailly’s Advisory Board. She is involved in economic development efforts and speaks on IP rights and confidentiality agreements to entrepreneurs and business startups.
